China's National Development and Reform Commission and other authorities released an initial list of 136 major national projects of landmark real-world applications on October 20. Five projects led by Beijing were selected, covering 6G applications, intelligent brain-computer interface (BCI) technology to assist people with disabilities, and other fields.
At the 6G Innovation Incubation Center in the International Information Port, Changping District, light-field holographic communication turns remote connections into truly "face-to-face" interactions. The center has developed a 6G testing and validation environment covering multiple scenarios, allowing businesses, universities, and research institutions to apply for and access services quickly.
The "Beinao-1" intelligent brain-computer interface (BCI) system has entered clinical trials for regulatory approval and has so far been implanted in more than 40 patients. It is primarily intended for patients with severe quadriplegia caused by spinal cord injury, helping them regain motor functions and improve their quality of life.
As a national platform for comprehensive testing and shared access, BioPark has created test beds for innovation across the entire development process to address challenges such as the "valley of death" in clinical trials and the barriers to commercialization in the pharmaceutical industry. In the first half of this year, Bayer's "Kerendia" was approved in China for a new indication for treating heart failure, and Beijing-based Shouyao Holdings also received approval for its new drug "Conteltinib" to treat non-small cell lung cancer.
