The 2026 railway travel surge for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays will run from September 23 to October 8, lasting 16 days. October 1 is expected to see the highest passenger flow.

To meet increased travel demand during the holidays, China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd. will add capacity in stages by coupling multiple EMU trainsets, adding additional high-speed trains during peak periods, and operating additional scheduled trains during nighttime peak hours. These measures will further optimize and increase rail transport capacity in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Additional trains will run mainly to Shijiazhuang, Handan, Zhengzhou, Datong, Shanghai, Wuhan, Changchun, Harbin and Hohhot.

In addition, passenger stations across Beijing will open additional entrances in a timely manner based on passenger flow. Express Entrance Halls and Fast Check Lanes will be used to facilitate quick entry, security checks and ticket inspections. Beijingnan Railway Station and Beijing Fengtai Railway Station will keep their fast-track entry halls open on a regular basis.

Major stations that receive passenger trains arriving in the early morning or at night will remain open during the holiday period. Dedicated nighttime waiting areas will be accessible to passengers arriving late at night. Basic services, including hot water, retail goods and light meals, will also be available for purchase.
