Having had enough of wasting your daytime on a train? Then don't miss these overnight trains departing from Beijing: get on board in the evening, sleep through the journey, and continue your fun journey when you arrive at the destination the next morning.

Beijing to Hangzhou

Get on board the D17 train in Beijing. After a good night's sleep on the train, you arrive in Hangzhou. Here, you can take a stroll by the West Lake, and savor a bowl of authentic pian'er chuan (a famous local noodle soup with pork and bamboo shoots). Sounds tempting, right?

Beijing to Shanghai

The D5 Beijing-Shanghai high-speed sleeper is a favorite for travelers who prefer a slower pace. Pack your luggage in the afternoon, get on board the train in the evening, and you can skip the rush-hour crush on the subway in Beijing. By the time you arrive in Shanghai the next morning, streets and alleys there have already come to life, and you will miss neither breakfast nor sightseeing. It is an efficient and enjoyable trip for everyone.

Beijing to Qingdao

Get on board the D25 train. By the time you wake up, you will find the fresh, salty sea breeze of Qingdao drifting through the carriage. Step off the train, and you can head straight for the coast and greet the sunrise by the sea.

Travel Tips

Before departure, passengers can use the "Easy Travel" (轻装行) service on the Railway 12306 app to send their bulky luggage to the destinations and travel with only a few belongings at hand on the way.

While waiting, you can browse the Cultural Post (文化驿站) and the Time Train Cultural Exhibition Area (时光列车文化展区) at the Beijing Railway Station before your train departs. The station's newly upgraded No. 4 and No. 5 waiting rooms also offer soft, roomy sofas and well-placed charging points, making your waiting experience more comfortable.

In addition, every berth in the trains comes with a USB port and a reading light, making your trip more convenient and worry-free.

At night, train attendants quietly keep watch and walk softly through the carriages so as not to disturb passengers. Dimmer floor lights automatically turn on, making it easier and safer for passengers to move around during the night.

As your destination approaches, attendants will gently wake you up in advance, making sure you have enough time to get off.

Notice: If your train is scheduled to depart after midnight, please arrive at the station on the evening before the departure time. It is also advised to plan your journey in advance, leave home earlier, and wait at the station with attention to avoid any delay.
