In the first five months of 2026, the total import and export volume of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region reached 2.09 trillion yuan, indicating a year-on-year increase of 14.4 percent and marking five consecutive months of growth.
In May, the region's exports and imports totaled 135.89 billion yuan and 348.46 billion yuan, respectively, both reaching record highs.
All three areas in the region (Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei) posted growth in imports and exports from January to May this year, with Beijing contributing the most with 1.44 trillion yuan—accounting for 69 percent of the regional total and cementing the city's leading role as the core growth engine.
Foreign-invested enterprises in the region registered 389.53 billion yuan in imports and exports during the same period, growing by 0.8 percent and accounting for 18.6 percent of the regional total.
Trade ties with emerging markets have strengthened. The trade volume with the Belt and Road partner countries reached 1.13 trillion yuan, up 6.1 percent. The trade volumes with the member states of the European Union (EU), the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Switzerland, Brazil and Australia reached 227.17 billion yuan, 170.17 billion yuan, 151.27 billion yuan, 142.2 billion yuan, and 131.71 billion yuan, respectively.
