To make it easier for cyclists traveling across regions, China Railway has launched the Bike‑On‑Board service on a trial basis starting May 19. Available on G-series high-speed trains operating between Beijingbei (Beijing North) and Chongli stations on the Beijing‑Zhangjiakou high‑speed railway, the service allows cyclists to book and pay via the Railway 12306 (铁路12306) app. After passing in-station security checks and properly packing their eligible bikes, passengers may bring their bicycles on board.

If you wish to bring a bicycle on board, you can check the service details through the "Bike Service" (自行车服务) section on the Railway 12306 app. After purchasing a ticket for designated trains, you may book and pay for the Bike‑On‑Board service on the order confirmation page. Bookings are available right up until departure, and every order can be cancelled for a full refund up to one hour before the corresponding train departs.

Once the booking is confirmed, you may remove the front wheel from your bicycle and pack it in a dedicated bike bag before the trip. Alternatively, you can complete wheel removal and packing upon arriving at the departure railway station. China Railway will provide dedicated tools and reusable bike‑carrying bags free of charge.

After removing and packing the front wheel, you shall proceed through the station's designated security check and ticket inspection channels with your ticket and Bike‑On‑Board service order.

Upon verification, you may board the train and secure your bicycle firmly in the corresponding bike storage area. Railway staff will conduct routine inspections throughout the journey to ensure safe transport. Upon arrival, you must return the bike bag provided by the railway authority to the staff at the station exit.

During the trial phase, the service is priced at 88 yuan per bicycle. Passengers may obtain electronic receipts via the Railway 12306 app within 180 days after completing their trips.

Each EMU train has a limited capacity for bicycles. Passengers in need are advised to plan their trips in advance and make online reservations as early as possible.
