With the Labor Day holiday approaching, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism has issued the following advice for a safe, pleasant and civilized holiday for all visitors:
Check Ratings of Travel Agencies Before Choosing
Before your departure, visit the website for the credit information on Beijing's cultural tourism industry (https://banshi.whlyj.beijing.gov.cn/xinyong/#/mllxs) to check the rating of the travel agencies registered in Beijing:
Level A is the highest rating.
Level B indicates good credit standing.
Level C is the baseline rating.
Level D indicates serious credit concerns or irregular operations.
Choose agencies with sound credit and complete qualifications, and stay away from unlicensed operations and low-price scams. Verify the QR code on the electronic itinerary document (电子行程单) of your tour guide before joining the tour. If you find any inconsistency in information, keep relevant evidence and safeguard your rights through legal channels.
Sign Standard Contracts to Protect Your Rights
Always sign an official tour contract when joining a tour group. Use the standard template of the group tour contract issued by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, which mandates the specification of clauses concerning service items, pricing and more to avoid contract-related disputes.
Plan Your Itinerary and Beware of Ticket Scalpers
Plan your route in advance and book tickets through the official channels of your intended attractions. Avoid buying tickets for popular attractions from scalpers to avoid financial losses.
Travel Responsibly and Follow Rules of Attractions
Visitors shall travel responsibly, abide by management rules of specific attractions and other social conventions (including being courteous to others). Visitors will be held accountable for vandalizing cultural relics or historic sites, or causing damage to ecological environment.
Travel Abroad Safely and Respect Local Customs
Before traveling outside China, check the latest safety advisories and avoid traveling to high-risk countries or regions. Abide by local laws and regulations, and respect local customs and traditions for a safe and enjoyable journey.
