On March 26, the Cultural and Tourism Service Zone at Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport officially opened. Currently, the zone offers transit travelers 15 travel routes, including single- and half-day tours to attractions, such as the Great Wall. Meanwhile, special night itineraries, such as the night tour along the Liangma River, are available for passengers arriving in Beijing in the afternoon and transferring onward on early-morning flights. These aim to enrich the travel experience.
The zone is located in the international transit area of Terminal 3, along the main route taken by inbound travelers heading to the transit section. In addition to promotional brochures highlighting cultural and tourism resources across Beijing's districts, the service counter also offers souvenirs such as Bing Dwen Dwen and other Chinese specialties.
The zone features six sections, offering integrated services across tourism, culture, and traveler convenience. The tourism section offers dozens of travel options in Beijing and surrounding areas, including traditional city tours, the top ten classic routes, and short trips near the airport. Transit travelers can visit the Great Wall and hutong or have night tours of Qianmen Street and Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. Customized single- and half-day tours are also available.
The supporting services section focuses on facilitating travel for transit passengers. Travelers can rent or buy public transport cards and translation devices to enhance mobility and communication.
The cultural and creative products section features a curated selection of products inspired by Beijing’s traditional culture, including its intangible cultural heritage (ICH), enabling short-stay visitors to take away distinctive gifts from the city.
The featured exhibition area displays a variety of ICH masterpieces, vividly presenting Beijing’s rich traditions.
In addition, the dedicated cultural tourism promotion and smart display sections showcase Beijing's diverse cultural and tourism resources and provide travelers with more in-depth local guidance.
As the number of inbound tourists grows, Beijing is further upgrading its services. The city will continue to leverage policies such as unilateral visa-free entry and the 240-hour visa-free transit, while making supporting measures, including departure tax refunds and cross-border payments, more user-friendly and convenient. Additionally, in terms of product upgrades, the city will focus on key source markets under the "32+3" framework, adopt tailored strategies, and develop a range of customized, immersive inbound tourism products.
