Recently, the Three-Year Achievement Exhibition of the Heritage Renewed Outstanding Project Support Plan and the Dongcheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage and Tourism Integration Development Resource Connection Conference were held. During the conference, the Dongcheng Intangible Heritage & Tourism Guide (in both Chinese and English) was launched. This systematically compiled directory marks a new stage for Dongcheng's intangible heritage resources, characterized by coordinated planning and standardized development.
This guide outlines 42 intangible heritage projects suitable for integration with tourism in Dongcheng District, systematically categorizing them into five major categories. Chapter I on "Performing Arts" features ancient ceremonial music and urban memories represented by skills such as the Zhonghe Shaoyue of the Temple of Heaven and Zhihua Temple's Jing Music. Chapter II on "Artisan Heritage" showcases Beijing craftsmanship and imperial techniques represented by skills such as cloisonné making and Beijing jade carving. The third chapter, "Folk Crafts" highlights folk customs and daily life arts and leisure represented by traditions such as Beijing swallow-shaped kite craft and paper-cutting. The fourth chapter, "Local Cuisine", features the culinary legacies of century-old time-honored brands represented by skills such as traditional Peking Duck craftsmanship and Beijing-style pastry making. The last chapter, "Health & Wellness", focuses on ancient wellness methods and Eastern healing represented by traditions such as Tongrentang's Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture.
Additionally, the guide introduced heritage sites and experiential spaces for intangible cultural heritage projects, providing precise guidance for the integration of culture and tourism.
