Want to watch adorable animals this winter but not sure where to go? Continue reading! Recently, a flock of seagulls has traveled back from Siberia to Tianjin, bringing vitality and dynamism to the chilling season. Hop on a high-speed train from Beijing and you will arrive in Tianjin in about an hour!
Let's discover the perfect spots to meet these charming visitors up close this winter.
Tanggu Old Pier

Located in Tianjin's Binhai New Area, Tanggu Old Pier is a perfect place for quietly observing seagulls in the afternoon. With seagulls soaring across the beautiful waterfront colored by the winter sunset, every snapshot becomes a stunning seasonal photo.
Daliangzi Ferry

Built during the Qing Dynasty, Daliangzi Ferry is one of the largest ferry crossings in northern China and the only remaining ferry in Tianjin today. Here, you can take a boat ride to watch seagulls up close. The mid-20th-century buildings on both banks enhance the romantic atmosphere.
Ticket Prices: 2 yuan (one-way) or 4 yuan (round trip) per person
Dongjiang Seaside Park

In the early winter, Dongjiang Seaside Park welcomes flocks of black-headed gulls. Hundreds or even thousands of them hover between the seawall and the water, creating a delightful view. At sunrise, you may witness seagulls gliding over the golden horizon, a spectacle only seen in winter.
If you choose to go there by car, this year, the parking lot at the Seaside Music Square (亲海音乐广场) offers the option to simply roll down your window to enjoy the morning glow over the sea. You can also take the seaside mini-train to soak in the winter coastal views.
Haihe Bund Park

Haihe Bund Park has several scenic sections: the square area at the major crossroad, the riverside square area, the jogging area on the river levee, and the riverside strolling area, each offering a unique view. You are more likely to find seagulls here on sunny days. Look around and you may spot the Orient Princess cruise ship, or just walk up to Haimen Bridge over the Haihe River to enjoy the graceful sight of flying seagulls. If you're traveling with children, don't miss the nearby Tianjin Haichang Ocean Park for a fun marine adventure.
Yujiapu Riverside Park

Step into Yujiapu Riverside Park and you'll be greeted by blue skies dotted with white clouds, seagulls gliding above the river, and sightseeing boats cruising along the Haihe River! On the riverbank stands a special seagull feeding station stocked with flaky sesame flatbreads (seagulls' favorite) through autumn and winter, quietly sending a warm "welcome home" signal to the birds.
The seagull-watching season usually lasts from November to early February of the following year. If you're planning to meet these winter visitors, don't wait any longer!
