Recently, Beijing's "Instant Tax Refund" program for overseas visitors launched a new fast-payment service for overseas visitors using international credit cards, in addition to the existing cash refund and Alipay "Tap-to-Refund" options. The service supports major international card networks such as VISA and Mastercard, with refunds credited almost instantly in the fastest cases. By integrating the pre-authorization and refund processes, it combines the promptness of cash refunds with the convenience of e-wallets, offering a smoother and more efficient experience for travelers.

In 2025, Beijing became one of the first cities in China to pioneer a citywide centralized tax refund model, enabling instant refunds via Alipay, and establishing a "mutual recognition mechanism" for "Instant Tax Refund" services across locations. Specifically, the mutual recognition program between Beijing and Tianjin has officially begun, with the first transaction successfully completed. Progress continues in optimizing and upgrading Beijing's "Instant Tax Refund" services for overseas visitors.
