Beijing Records 25.094 Million Arrivals by Tourists During National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Holidays

During this year's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays (October 1 to 8), Beijing saw 25.094 million arrivals by tourists, with the tourism revenue reaching 31.65 billion yuan, up 3.6 percent and 4.7 percent year on year, respectively.

Data shows that the top 10 tourist destinations in terms of numbers of arrivals during the holidays were Tian'anmen Square and its surrounding area, Wangfujing, the Olympic Park, Xidan, the Liangma River International Waterfront, Qianmen Street, the Temple of Heaven Park, Nanluoguxiang (South Luogu Lane), Shichahai Scenic Area, and the Summer Palace.

Throughout the holidays, Beijing hosted more than 4,200 cultural and tourism activities and introduced nearly 100 themed travel routes. The city's parks recorded 13.8296 million visits. Over the eight-day period, key businesses monitored by the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, including department stores, supermarkets, specialty shops, catering businesses, and e-commerce businesses, made sales of 9.51 billion yuan. The city's 60 major commercial districts recorded a total footfall of 59.668 million, up 13.9 percent year on year.

Beijing's inbound tourism market also demonstrated rapid growth during the holidays, with 119,000 entries, indicating a 48-percent increase year on year. Inbound visitors spent 1.23 billion yuan, up 54.1 percent from the previous year. Popular attractions and commercial districts among foreign tourists included Universal Beijing Resort, the Palace Museum, the Mutianyu and Badaling sections of the Great Wall, Sanlitun, and Wangfujing.

In the performing arts sector, Beijing staged 2,497 commercial performances during the holidays, resulting in a total footfall of about 670,000 and generating approximately 218 million yuan in box office revenue.
