The summer vacation has come, and Beijing, as a popular tourist destination in China, is expected to welcome multiple waves of tourist peaks comprising students, families, and visitors from outside the country.

Based on the summer travel patterns, the city has optimized its tourist shuttle bus routes, implementing staggered scheduling based on the regular public transport services. Currently, 39 dedicated tourist shuttle lines are open, covering over 50 popular attractions including the Palace Museum, the Summer Palace, the Badaling Great Wall, the Beijing WTown, the three major architectural landmarks (namely the Beijing Performing Arts Centre, the Beijing Library, and the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing) in the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, and the Universal Beijing Resort.

The Great Beijing Central Axis Sightseeing Buses have become seasonal highlights. The buses involved are new retro-style ones based on the traditional "Dangdang" trams, operating both daytime and nighttime on different routes. Visitors on these buses can immerse themselves in the ancient capital's cultural heritage with a history of nearly a millennium.

The shuttle network connecting six urban districts provides direct accesses to major attractions. Among them, Tourist Shuttle Line 20 connects the Summer Palace, the Old Summer Palace, Tsinghua University, and Peking University, with the buses of this line operating during holidays from May 1 to October 5, 2025. The Summer Palace – Olympic Park sightseeing buses provide one-stop service from the Summer Palace to the National Indoor Stadium from 14:00 to 17:00.

Reservation-based eco-tours are now available as part of Beijing's suburban shuttle services. The buses of Tourist Shuttle Line 19 depart from Songjiazhuang Public Transport Hub and directly reach the Beijing Wildlife Park, running on holidays only for passengers with reservation records. For the Badaling Great Wall express service, two routes are available: one departing from Dongzhimen Public Transport Hub and the other departing from Lianhuachi Bus Stop (via Xiyuan). To take any of these routes, a reservation must be made at least one day in advance through the official website or WeChat mini-program of "Beijing Hub of Tour Dispatch".

In addition to the urban transportation network, Beijing's transport authorities have simultaneously strengthened suburban transport services for tourists while coordinating with scenic areas to launch special events. The Beijing WTown now offers seven transport options including Dongzhimen Tourist Shuttle Line and S5 Line (Huairou - Miyun Line). It should be noted that the "Fairy Tale WTown - Adventure Carnival" (童话古北奇遇嘉年华) launched on July 1 in this scenic area will run until August 31. Combining themed concerts with activities associated with intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, the event is aimed at creating an immersive cultural tourism feast for families. Holders of the tickets to the Beijing WTown can receive complimentary daytime tickets to the Simatai Great Wall.
