The Temple of Heaven served as a sacred site where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshiped Heaven, prayed for good harvests, and sought rainfall. As the largest existing ancient ceremonial complex in China, it is renowned for its axial symmetry that conveys a sense of order. Landmark structures such as the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and the Echo Wall reflect the profound depth of traditional Chinese ritual culture. It was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1998.
