Beijing Emerges as China's Top Destination During Qingming Festival Holiday, Welcoming 9.593 Million Visitors

This Qingming Festival holiday, Beijing hosted 9.593 million tourists, a 6.2 percent year-on-year increase. Tourist expenditures in the city reached CNY 11.5 billion, up 9.5 percent year-on-year, with per capita spending rising three percent year-on-year to CNY 1,198.7 per visit. Data released by major travel platforms, including Ctrip and Qunar, ranked Beijing as the top tourist destination in China during the holiday period.

During the holiday, Beijing's 626 key monitoring cultural and tourism venues received 13.385 million visits, rising 9.4 percent year-on-year; generating CNY 421.666 million in revenue, up 7.2 percent year-on-year. 150 performance venues across Beijing hosted 877 screenings of 225 commercial performances were staged, expected to attract 249,000 spectators and bring CNY 102 million in box office revenue. As anticipated, the number of performances, spectators, and box office revenue would rise 50 percent, 55 percent, and 46 percent respectively compared with the same period in 2024.

The top ten scenic spots (areas) in terms of visitor reception are: Wangfujing, Beijing Olympic Park, Tian'anmen area, Xidan, Shichahai Scenic Area, Nanluoguxiang (South Luogu Lane), the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Qianmen Street, and Yuyuantan Park.
