A special themed event titled "Fascinating Beijing: Great Wall, Grand Canal and Central Axis in Passage of Time" opened at Humboldt Carré in Berlin, Germany on September 25 (GMT+2). The event was hosted by the Information Office of Beijing Municipality.
Among the highlights was a digital image exhibition titled "Great Wall and Grand Canal in Passage of Time", which was independently developed by the Encyclopedia of China Publishing House with advanced multimedia technologies. The exhibition vividly recreated historical features and portrayed some of the cultural legacies of the Great Wall and the Grand Canal, both being UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites.

The event also featured a special exhibition of the photos and videos of Beijing's Central Axis and several cultural performances showcasing the historical and contemporary charm of Beijing. A themed cultural workshop also gave visitors the chance to assemble mortise and tenon structures used in making traditional Chinese furniture.
A special promotional session for Beijing Culture Forum was also held during the event, aimed at drawing attention from more industrial stakeholders and practitioners of Europe and encouraging them to partake in the forum.

Thomas Honeck, Deputy Head of the Division for International Relations of the Governing Mayor of Berlin - Senate Chancellery, remarked that "This exhibition has given me a deeper understanding of Chinese history and culture. The displays of the Great Wall and the Grand Canal were particularly breathtaking and inspiring." Many of the visitors attending the event expressed their hope that Berlin might be treated to more events of a similar kind in the future and eagerness to learn more about Beijing and experience the city in person.
