On May 7, Lin Jian, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presided over a regular press conference and announced that to further promote personnel exchanges between China and other countries, China has decided to extend its visa exemption policy for 12 countries including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland to December 31, 2025. The policy applies to holders of ordinary passports issued in these countries who plan to visit China for purposes such as business, tourism, family and friends visits, and transit for up to 15 days without visas.
