The May Day holiday is a peak period for travelling in Beijing. It is anticipated that this year's holiday will see an increase in both traffic capacity and passenger flow compared with the same period in 2023 and 2019, which will put pressure on urban transportation systems.
Considering the higher volume of nighttime arrivals at Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station, Chaoyang Railway Station, Fengtai Railway Station, and Beijing Daxing International Airport, several subway lines in the city will extend their operating hours.
From April 30 to May 5, the operating hours of Line 4 and Line 7 will be extended by one hour;
On April 30, May 4 and May 5, the operating hours of Line 14 will be extended by one hour;
On May 5, the operating hours of Line 2 will be extended by one hour.
On April 30, May 1 and May 5, the operating hours of Daxing Airport Express and Line 19 will be extended by one hour. Additionally, the opening hours of Jingfengmen Station, a transfer station for Line 14 and Line 19, will also be extended accordingly.
On May 6, Fengtai Zhan (Fengtai Railway Station) Station on Subway Line 16 and Line 10 will commence operations at 5:00. Additionally, other subway lines will implement emergency plans to increase capacity as needed in response to sudden surges in passenger flow.
Currently, Chaoyang Railway Station, which is the only railway station without direct subway connections, will introduce shuttle buses to directly connect with Line 6, Line 14, and Line 10.
