Groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Urban Living Room (Plot A) in Huairou Science City of Beijing in early December, marking the start of construction of the first comprehensive and international public service project for Huairou Science City.

The Urban Living Room project is located in the start-up area of Huairou Science City, where 3 national major science and technology infrastructures and 14 sci-tech R&D platforms are under construction, with a focus on functions like sci-tech R&D platforms, research-based colleges, science and technology services, and international communication and exchange.

The Urban Living Room is positioned as an international public service center for domestic and foreign scientists, a showcase of Huairou Science City, and a vibrant center for scientific research and science and technology industries. Combining the city park, the project will integrate and build a hub for science and technology R&D, science and technology services, cultural and commercial facilities, high-end hotels and apartments, and research-based colleges. The project is composed by Plot A, Plot B and Plot C, and is expected to conclude for operation in early 2023.
