On August 11, the award and opening ceremonies for the 2026 "Colourful World" China-Africa Youth Painting Invitational Exhibition and the "Youth Aspirations" Beijing Youth Art Biennale were held at the China Millennium Monument.
Since its call for submissions in May this year, the invitational exhibition has received 3,364 artworks from young participants across 31 African countries and China (from 27 provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and autonomous regions). The works are centered on themes including China-Africa friendship, mutual learning among civilizations, scientific and technological innovation, and youths' dreams. Following evaluation by a panel of experts and the final review by the organizing committee, 172 works by African participants and 853 works by Chinese participants received awards. Furthermore, 47 works were shortlisted for the "Youth Aspirations" Beijing Youth Art Biennale, while 28 organizations were recognized for their outstanding contributions.
At the event, African residents (including students) in Beijing delivered traditional dance performances and songs, showcasing the diversity of African cultures and celebrating the friendship between China and African countries.
The exhibition is underway at the second-floor exhibition hall of the China Millennium Monument and will run until August 16.
