In Q2, Beijing launched a total of 47 projects in a number of upmarket and advanced industries, speeding up the development of the "Two Zones" (i.e. the Integrated National Demonstration Zone for Opening up the Services Sector and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone).

According to Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, in 2021, Beijing will focus on the functions of "three areas and seven clusters," strengthen the management of policy criteria, expand on space resources, and align with relative institutions. The municipality will also introduce and implement a batch of iconic, leading, and pioneering projects.

In the Haidian Cluster, global solicitation has been implemented to call for exceptional, architectural design for the Zhongguancun Forum. Construction projects for innovative structures, such as the Bytedance Headquarters Industrial Park, are also making headway. In the Changping Cluster, the construction of a research-based international medical transformation platform for Zhongguancun Life Science Park has sped up developments and other projects like Nord-Huanyu and DIA have been introduced and are currently undergoing operations as well. In the Chaoyang Cluster, construction of the Minsheng Bank Building is underway, while the Taikang and Sunshine construction projects in the northern CBD core cluster are due to be completed by the end of 2021. The Shunyi Cluster is establishing a comprehensive bonded zone for trade in services, and will accelerate the development of the second and third phases of the National Exhibition Center and its surrounding infrastructure and transportation system.

Since the beginning of 2021, Beijing has focused on the development of an international center for scientific and technological innovation as well as the building of the "Two Zones" which will serve as a model city for the global digital economy. Among other efforts, it has integrated a number of beneficial resources, and accelerated the implementation of various major technological and innovative schemes. Of the 100 projects inaugurated in Q2 in Beijing, 47 projects are related to the focused fields, involving a total investment of CNY 41.5 billion, which account for nearly 50% of the total number of projects as well as the total investment.
