The construction of a integrated national demonstration zone for greater openness in the service sector and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone (the "Two Zones") is a major policy of the central government to support Beijing's opening-up and development. It provides not only an excellent opportunity but also a great responsibility for Beijing in fostering a new development paradigm.
With the advancement of the Two Zones, especially the comprehensive pilot programs for greater openness in the service sector, Beijing has successively carried out 403 pilot projects and 35 opening-up measures, and summarized over 120 effective results from such pilots. The experience and best practices in 25 pilot projects have been shared nationwide in six batches.
Chaoyang District is among Beijing’s first batch of comprehensive demonstration zones for greater openness in the service sector. Meanwhile, the central part of Beijing Central Business District (CBD) and Jinzhan International Cooperation Service Zone, covering a total area of 7.92 square kilometers, were included into the International Business Service Area of China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone in the end of September 2020. Chaoyang District is creating in full swing a sample for high-level opening-up.
Wen Xian, Mayor of Chaoyang District, said that Beijing CBD, Jinzhan International Cooperation Service Zone and Chaoyang Park of Zhongguancun Science Park are core functional areas for the Two Zones. In the next five years, the three core areas will continually provide more industrial space. (Beijing Daily)
