On February 18, Coller Investment Management Limited, a foreign institution focused on the secondary private equity market, established a new fund manager, Coller Private Fund Management Co., Ltd (Beijing), in Chaoyang District.
On December 10, 2020, the China Securities Regulatory Commission approved the pilot program for the share transfer of equity investment and venture capital to launch in Beijing, in an effort to broaden the exit channels for equity capital. As a key task in Beijing's "Two Zones" construction, the pilot program for the equity investment and venture capital share transfer will provide a relief and exit channel for private equity funds. Secondary Funds (S Funds), which primarily invests in equity investment fund shares or equities, serves as an important buyer in the secondary market. The vigorous development of S Funds will help optimize the exit ecosystem of private equity funds in the city.
The Municipal Bureau of Local Financial Regulation and Supervision, Beijing Securities Regulatory Bureau, and various districts have established specialized service teams, which are equipped with dedicated service personnel to track services and actively promote the establishment of S Funds. The Zero2IPO S Fund has been implemented in Fangshan District. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in London, Coller Investment Management Limited is a well-known institution in the global private equity secondary market and established the first secondary market fund in Europe. Coller Private Fund Management Co., Ltd (Beijing) is the first foreign S-fund manager to establish operations in Beijing. It is expected to enrich the types of institutional investors in the capital market, enhance the international influence of Beijing's private equity fund industry, and facilitate wider and more extensively opening up of the capital market, and actively contribute to the progress of the pilot program for equity investment and venture capital share transfer.
