About the venue:
The National Agricultural Exhibition Center (NAEC) and the China Agricultural Museum (CAM) are two appellations for the same institution attached to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of PRC. NAEC was one of ten important buildings in Beijing approved for construction by the State Council in 1958, and its geographic location, scale, layout, and construction style were reviewed and determined by Premier Zhou Enlai. In September 1959, NAEC was officially completed and opened to the public. CAM is a national-level professional museum approved by the State Council in July 1983, and built on the foundation of NAEC. It was officially opened to the public in September 1986 and was rated as a National First Level Museum in 2012.
NAEC/CAM bears the responsibilities of publicizing the Party's and the state's "Three Rural Issues" policies, demonstrating modern agricultural developments, promoting circulation and sale of agricultural products, popularizing agricultural knowledge, and protecting, inheriting and promoting Chinese agricultural civilization. Covering a land area of 43 hectares, NAEC/CAM has an indoor exhibition area of 21,000 square meters, and an outdoor exhibition area of about 40,000 square meters. It is equipped with complete supporting facilities such as conference rooms and hotels, with the capacity of meeting the needs of varies types of exhibitions and public events. CAM has an indoor display area of 6,600 square meters, including six basic indoor display zones such as the Chinese Agricultural Civilization Display. Outdoor exhibition spaces consist of the ancient traditional farming section and the modern scientific farming section, covering an area of about 10,000 square meters. The venue has successively won a number of honorary titles, such as National Patriotism Education Base, National Youth Education Base of Science and Technology, Beijing Science Education Base, and International Science and Peace Education Base.
