About the venue:

Built in 1954, Beijing Exhibition Center (BEC) is the first large-scale and comprehensive exhibition center in Beijing with its name written by Chairman Mao Zedong and the ribbon-cutting ceremony presided over by Premier Zhou Enlai. BEC is located in the Xizhimen commercial area of Beijing, adjacent to the Beijing Zoo transportation hub on the west, and to Xizhimen subway station, subway terminal and Beijing North Railway Station on the east, enjoying convenient transportation and superior geographical location. BEC covers a land area of about 132,000 square meters, among which, the main buildings cover an area of 88,500 square meters, and the main hall has a construction area of 50,400 square meters. On the roof of the main building is a huge iconic red five-pointed star with a diameter of 2.5 meters, and on top of the front door of the central hall is the gold-plated venue name written by Chairman Mao Zedong. In December 2007, upon approval by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, BEC was included in the List of Extraordinary Modern Buildings for Protection in Beijing (First Batch); and in September 2016, it was included in the first batch of "China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage"

BEC is mainly engaged in organizing and implementing international exhibitions and thematic exhibitions. It is a comprehensive service enterprise focusing on conventions and exhibitions, with performance, catering and accommodation as complement. It is devoted to playing the important role of being the optimal place for releasing new products, new technologies and new achievements of various industries, and is the most determined witness of China's development process. Its work is also oriented to the concerns of the party, the state, and the local government, for example, to hold various types of thematic, fact-based, and commemorative exhibitions, receive domestic and international guests and audiences, organize the exploration of related industries, and actively carry out business exchanges with peer organizations in the country and around the world. BEC consists of more than ten functional departments, including General Office, Party-Mass Work Department, Human Resources Department, Finance Department, Security Management Department, Exhibition Center, etc.

Major Exhibitions For a long period of time, BEC has been undertaking a large number of conventions and exhibitions with high reputation, great influence and wide coverage. In particular, The Glorious Course—Exhibition of Achievements Made in the 50 Years of the People's Republic of China, ITS World Congress, Olympic Expo Beijing 2008, and the Exhibition of Achievements Made in the Five Years of Forging Ahead have won wide acclaim from leaders at various levels and visitors from all walks of life, hence making a huge social impact.

Business Formats BEC has formed the coexistence of various and multi-dimensional business formats, including the Moscow Restaurant, XiaoMo Restaurant, BJ-EXPO Theatre, And More Restaurant, Coffee G, and Beijing Performing Arts Company.

Industrial Upgrade. Through the scientific and rational layout in four major industries, i.e. "Exhibition, Dining, Performance and Accommodation", BEC intends to create a "multi-format leisure and cultural complex with distinctive exotic features". The upgrade in terms of "Exhibition" refers to connecting the entire industry chain of exhibition with three major business lines, i.e., exhibition development, venue sales, and exhibition engineering, in order to nurture the self-organized exhibition brands and gain more benefits. The upgrade in terms of "Dining" refers to the complementation and synergy of the Moscow Restaurant, XiaoMo Restaurant, Bakery, Coffee G, and BJ-EXPO and And More Restaurant brands. The upgrade in terms of "Performance" refers to leveraging the advantages of the theatre and the performance operation experience of the performing arts and culture company, to focus on round-the-clock operation and develop the "performance art +" cultural and creative industry in a broad sense. Finally, the upgrade in terms of "Accommodation" refers to relying on the quality management of BTG Homeinns to create a business-oriented, exquisite garden-style BJ-EXPO Hotel. BEC will also comprehensively enhance its social influence and brand recognition through the combination of "BJ-EXPO Street and the Cultural and Artistic Activity Center". In the future, BEC, as a leisure and cultural complex covering exhibition, performance and entertainment, and creativity projects, and providing commercial, catering, and accommodation services, will leverage the European artistic environment featuring its unique historical background, the BEC-specific leisure product chain, and the ultimate service image to create the most charming cultural interaction space in west Beijing.
