Fangshan Central Shopping District

Fangshan District, located in the southwest of Beijing, covers 2,019 square kilometers, with plains, hills, and mountainous regions each accounting for a third of its total area. There are 28 townships (sub-districts), 459 administrative villages, and 210 neighborhood committees in the district, which has a permanent population of 1.313 million this year, roughly the same as the previous year.

In 2022, Fangshan District's GDP increased by more than 3 percent over 2021, and its revenue in the general public budgets amounted to CNY 9.26 billion, an increase of 8.3 percent. The gross industrial output value above designated size in Fangshan District reached CNY 95.62 billion, an increase of 6.9 percent, and its fixed-asset investment and investment in construction and installation went up 5.7 percent and 8.9 percent, respectively. Total retail sales of social consumer goods in the district reached CNY 34.91 billion. While its registered urban unemployment rate was 3.38 percent, the district had its per capita disposable income topped CNY 49,300, an increase of 3.6 percent. The annual average concentration level of PM 2.5 particles in the district was 31 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decline of 8.6 percent.

Fangshan enjoys a long history and has been known as "the source of man", "the birthplace of the city", and "the cradle of the capital". The world-famous Peking Man Site at Zhoukoudian, generally considered as the birthplace of human civilization, was unearthed here. The Liulihe relic site in Fangshan District, over 3,000 years old, was believed to be the capital of the Yan kingdom during the Western Zhou Dynasty. The relic site has been widely regarded by historians as the starting point of Beijing's ancient urban development. The Jin Dynasty Imperial Mausoleums, built more than 860 years ago, are witnesses to Beijing's founding as the capital. Fangshan boasts great ecological resources, including Fangshan UNESCO Global Geopark of China, Shangfangshan National Forest Park, which is the oldest primitive secondary forest in North China, and one of the largest karst cave groups in northern China -- the Shihua Cave Scenic Spot and Silver Fox Cave Scenic Spot.

Looking to the future, Fangshan District will adhere to the guiding principle of promoting the high-quality development of Beijing in the new era, precisely locate its position in the "Five Key Initiatives" and make its corresponding contributions. Efforts will be made to implement the functional position of "Three Zones and One Hub", i.e., a key collaboration zone of ecological conservation and regional ecological governance in southwest Beijing, a demonstration zone for the transformation and development of scientific and technological finance innovation, an international tourism and recreation zone that integrates history, culture and geological relics, and an important hub on the Beijing-Baoding-Shijiazhuang development axis in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. Fangshan will also strike a safer, better balance between pandemic prevention and control and economic and social development, and between development and security. Moreover, it will safeguard and improve people's livelihoods, effectively prevent and resolve major risks, and make further progress in exercising full and strict governance over the Party. It will aim high and spare no effort to build a district of red culture, vitality, delicacy, beauty, safety and happiness. It will strive for further advancement in the new Fangshan's modernization development of "One District and One City" (i.e. the modern ecological leisure city and the capital city's high-end manufacturing district).
