About the Demonstration Zone:
Under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and with formal approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Beijing China-Japan Innovation and Cooperation Demonstration Zone is the first international cooperation demonstration zone established with the theme of innovation. As a significant location for Beijing's "Two Zones" initiative and a major project during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, it plays a crucial role in establishing an international center for scientific and technological innovation and international exchanges. The zone will take the lead in policy innovation, particularly in the international protection of intellectual property rights, and develop an ecosystem centered around scientific and technological innovation for international innovation and entrepreneurship. It aims to facilitate an abundant flow of international talents, technologies, capital, and information within the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Ultimately, the zone strives to serve as a model for international collaboration in innovation and cooperative development among industries.
The zone has adopted multiple policies from the policy pilot zones of RCEP, the comprehensive pilot projects for further opening up the service sector in Beijing, and Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone, among others. With a focus on innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, the zone has welcomed prominent institutions including THU POWER, a world-leading enterprise dedicated to self-pressurizing combustion technology, and key projects including Enpower, a hidden champion in the solid-state battery industry. The zone strives to build an international sci-tech innovation and collaboration center up to high standards to offer a high-quality space for innovation, entrepreneurship and incubation, along with integrated services. Additionally, the zone aims to develop into a comprehensive service center that meets different needs, functioning mainly as a space of mass entrepreneurship, a place with catering and hospitality services, and a venue for conferences and forums. The ultimate goal of the zone is to create a liveable, business-friendly and international living environment for specialized, sophisticated and innovative enterprises, "little giant" companies, "hidden champions", and talented individuals worldwide. It is advancing towards a new hub for innovative enterprises around the world to gather and grow.
