The Construction of Digital Beijing and 2023 Beijing Internet Conference was recently held in Beijing. At the conference, Beijing announced the launch of its "Optical Network Capital, 10G City" action plan, leading the country into the era of 10 gigabit optical networks.

The popularization of large broadband, low latency, and integrated sensing and communications services requires higher network capability and quality. Beijing has taken the lead in promoting the evolution and upgrading of its communications infrastructure in the direction of a "10G optical network" in the form of policy documents.

The action plan proposes that Beijing will vigorously promote the development and application of new communications technologies to achieve ten times the bandwidth, ten times the energy efficiency, industrial-grade latency with high reliability, and higher capability of optical communications and sensory integration. By 2025, there will be more than 2,000 typical industry application cases of gigabit optical networks in the city. In terms of digital infrastructure, Beijing's information and communications industry will continue to consolidate the "construction of new infrastructure."
