Beijing's Digital Economy Sees over CNY 800 Billion of Value Added in H1

In the first half of 2022, the value added of Beijing's digital economy amounted to CNY 838.13 billion, accounting for 43.3 percent of the city's GDP and maintaining good momentum.

Beijing witnesses that the value of data assets has gradually emerged, and services for cross-border data flows have made remarkable achievements. The data trading platform of Beijing International Data Exchange has seen 333 entities participating in data trading, 1,253 platforms and data products of all kinds, 1,774 data trading agreements and 773 million transactions of data trading. China's first international data trading alliance was also established, and more than 150 data service and cooperation institutions already joined the alliance. Mutual recognition of electronic signatures on cross-border business contracts has been realized for foreign-invested enterprises such as Microsoft, and China's first digital economy-oriented corporate bond was issued by the BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. in March this year.

In terms of applying digital technologies to new scenarios and fostering new business forms, Beijing has entered the smart city 2.0 stage where all fields are open for digital technologies. A city-level experimental platform was built at the Yizhuang-based Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area to firstly pilot the commercialization of autonomous vehicle service in China, preliminarily forming a friendly business environment with policy support for  automated driving.

In terms of optimizing the business environment for digital economy and enhancing high-level opening-up and cooperation, the paid-in foreign investment in Beijing's industrial sector and software and IT sector from January to July this year already amounted to USD 4.28 billion, accounting for 31.6 percent of such investment in Beijing during that period; the Regulations for Promoting Digital Economy will go through the second round of deliberation by the Standing Committee of Beijing Municipal People's Congress, and targeted policies will be introduced to promote the development of multiple segments such as digital consumption; China's first digital economy standardization technical committee has been established in Beijing; Beijing will continue to support the establishment of a digital economy industrial fund whose total scale will reach CNY 10 billion.
