Beijing Municipal Bureau of Prison Administration (Beijing Municipal Bureau of Drug Rehabilitation Administration), reorganized in accordance with the Organization Reform Plan of the Beijing Municipal People's Government and the requirements of organization reform of the municipality approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, started operation in December 2018. Thoroughly implementing the CPC and the State's approaches and policies, laws, legislation, and regulations on prison and drug rehabilitation-related works, its principle responsibilities include: (1) To guide, supervise, and manage the penalty enforcement, prison administration, and the reeducation works of the prisons in Beijing; (2) To guide, supervise, and manage the implementation of the compulsory isolation measure for drug rehabilitation and the recover work in affiliated isolated drug rehabilitation venues or recovery venues; (3) To provide guidance and help to communities in drug rehabilitation and recovery works. It has jurisdiction to a Qinghe Sub-Bureau, 15 prisons, and 10 treatment and drug rehabilitation venues. Within the Bureau, 28 division-level organizations are set up. In addition, according to the requirement by the Discipline Inspection Commission of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Beijing Municipal Supervisory Commission, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Prison Administration (Beijing Municipal Bureau of Drug Rehabilitation Administration) is also responsible for the management of the warning education bases for full and strict governance over the Party citywide.
