Shougang Park is located in Shijingshan District and was founded in 1919. It is currently the best preserved and largest relic of industrial steel production in China and has been transformed from a production base into a modern park, serving a diverse range of businesses as a model of urban renewal. Visitors will learn more about the remarkable history of China’s steel industry while enjoying the convenience and comfort of a modern urban environment.

Office Area of Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, located at the northwest end of Shougang Park, was originally the West Ten stock yard, which was used to store iron-making raw materials. It covers an area of about 67,000 square meters, and a building area of about 75,000 square meters. The block retains many industrial remnants, including silos, storage bunkers, transfer stations, walkways, and joint pumping stations. These have been renovated and repurposed, blending the old and new, creating an eco-friendly, natural, and cohesive urban landscape. From 2016 to 2022, the block was used as the office area for Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Big Air Shougang is the world’s first permanent large ski jump facility retained for competitive use and the first Olympic venue to combine industrial heritage with reuse. Inspired by the Dunhuang flying apsara murals, the jump resembles a ribbon soaring in the air, symbolizing athletes in flight. During the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the Big Air made a spectacular debut, hosting both the men’s and women’s snowboard and freestyle ski big air events. Post-Olympics, the facility will continue to serve high-level international competitions, professional athlete training, commercial cultural activities, and sustainable consumer experiences. It is designed to be a vibrant hub for the park, driving sports and economic development in the Shougang Park area and the western Beijing region.
