The Permanent Exhibition at the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center

The Zhongguancun Exhibition Center is a non-profit service platform for the demonstration and application of Zhongguancun's achievements and is located in the heart of Beijing's International Science and Technology Innovation Center. The exhibition offers a forward-looking vision of the global frontiers of science and technology, national economic development, national priorities, and health and security, as well as the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It houses 21 exhibition areas dedicated to basic research, major scientific installations, space, and brain science and research, showcases more than 430 technologies and products from more than 320 scientific research institutions and enterprises in Beijing, and provides an important platform for displaying, releasing, and negotiating the promotion and commercialization of Zhongguancun's newest technologies and achievements.

Beijing Bell and Drum Tower

Beijing Bell and Drum Tower, originally built during the Yuan Dynasty, have a history of over 700 years, having been constructed from the 9th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1272). They served as the timekeeping centers during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. The construction of the Bell Tower and Drum Tower is closely linked to the development of the ancient capital city and they are symbolic of the city’s central axis. 

The Guan

The Guan is known as the “tail of the dragon.” Today, the Guan serves as a “local cultural museum” and a “new cultural space for Beijing’s modern lifestyle.” The project has been divided into several areas, including a Beijing Central Axis-themed post office, a digital exhibition hall of the central axis, a reading hall, a historical exhibition hall on Hong’en Temple, a traditional Chinese cultural academy, a tea space, and the Home Restaurant, among other spaces offering the public sustainable, high-quality lifestyle options.

Big Air Shougang

Shougang Park is located in Shijingshan District and was founded in 1919. It is currently the best preserved and largest relic of industrial steel production in China and has been transformed from a production base into a modern park, serving a diverse range of businesses as a model of urban renewal. Visitors will learn more about the remarkable history of China’s steel industry while enjoying the convenience and comfort of a modern urban environment.

Office Area of Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, located at the northwest end of Shougang Park, was originally the West Ten stock yard, which was used to store iron-making raw materials. It covers an area of about 67,000 square meters, and a building area of about 75,000 square meters. The block retains many industrial remnants, including silos, storage bunkers, transfer stations, walkways, and joint pumping stations. These have been renovated and repurposed, blending the old and new, creating an eco-friendly, natural, and cohesive urban landscape. From 2016 to 2022, the block was used as the office area for Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Big Air Shougang is the world’s first permanent large ski jump facility retained for competitive use and the first Olympic venue to combine industrial heritage with reuse. Inspired by the Dunhuang flying apsara murals, the jump resembles a ribbon soaring in the air, symbolizing athletes in flight. During the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the Big Air made a spectacular debut, hosting both the men’s and women’s snowboard and freestyle ski big air events. Post-Olympics, the facility will continue to serve high-level international competitions, professional athlete training, commercial cultural activities, and sustainable consumer experiences. It is designed to be a vibrant hub for the park, driving sports and economic development in the Shougang Park area and the western Beijing region.

Shougang SoReal Metaverse Park

The Shougang Park Blast Furnace No. 1 SoReal Science Fiction Paradise preseves the original structure and industrial architectural features of the furnace and  integrates cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, edge computing, AR, VR, MR, AI, and holographic imaging. It features a futuristic theme park, live performance venues, art exhibitions, restaurants and bars, and experiential commercial streets, offering visitors an immersive experience that blends culture, entertainment, science education, dining, retail, and services.

The Shangri-La Hotel in Shougang Park, designed by renowned Italian architect Piero Lissoni and operated by the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, is located in the heart of Shougang Park, a core area often referred to as a “new landmark for urban renewal”. The hotel is nestled between the Shijingshan mountains and the Qunming Lake. By transforming the original Shougang power plant and other industrial structures, the hotel creatively merges industrial style, Chinese elements, and green sustainability. The result is a unique high-end hotel where historical heritage and modern aesthetics blend seamlessly, making it a one-of-a-kind luxury destination worldwide.

Beijing Demonstration Center of Service for Persons with Disabilities

Beijing Demonstration Center of Service for Persons with Disabilities, was established by Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation. Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation to serve the special needs of individuals with disabilities. It is now the most professional and the most comprehensive provincial-level demonstrative service institution in China. Covering 33,200 square meters over 24 floors, the center officially opened in March 2022. It serves as a major external reception and showcase unit for the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics. The center’s mission is to be a “service platform with three centers and one model.” It functions not only as a comprehensive service center for people with disabilities but also as a professional disability services demonstration center, an incubator for assistive technology projects, and a training hub for professionals in disability services. It is also a model for accessible facilities across the country. The center offers a range of specialized services, including vocational rehabilitation, short-term care, child rehabilitation, adult rehabilitation, job training, art rehabilitation, inclusive cinema experiences, and more. Over the past two years, it has served over 100,000 people with disabilities. In its construction, the center adhered to the “universal design, shared spaces for all” philosophy, ensuring that the building and its information systems are fully accessible. 


The Olympic Tower

The Olympic Tower is a signature landmark of the Beijing Olympic Park, attracting numerous visitors with its breathtaking sunset and nighttime views. The design of the tower, inspired by the “Tree of Life,” symbolizes the earth’s rise and crack, with the tree breaking through the surface and growing naturally. The five differently sized towers represent the dynamic spirit of the Olympic rings. Combining the functions of a city landmark, tourist attraction, and cultural display, the tower offers a panoramic view of the Bird’s Nest, Water Cube, and other iconic landmarks. From its observation deck, visitors can appreciate the beauty of Beijing’s central axis, where ancient and modern elements complement each other seamlessly.


The 798 Art Zone

798 Art Zone is recognized as one of the TOP10 art districts in the world, a cultural landmark of Beijing, and an internationally renowned cultural brand. Covering an area of 300,000 square meters, 798 still retains the largest Bauhaus-style industrial complex in Asia.

Visitors to 798 Art Zone can admire the weathered red brick walls and the scattered industrial buildings, experiencing the perfect fusion of history, reality, industry, and art. The area is home to nearly 500 galleries, design studios, exhibition spaces, fashion shops, and cultural institutions. These include national cultural exchange centers from 19 countries, international cultural and artistic organizations, prominent institutions blending traditional Chinese and contemporary art, as well as nearly 100 renowned artists’ studios from both China and abroad, making it a new cultural landmark in Beijing.

The Palace Museum

The Forbidden City (Palace Museum) was built over 600 years ago and is the crown jewel of the Central Axis. Stepping behind its iconic red walls and gazing up at the shimmering yellow tiles is like stepping back in time. The vicissitudes of history and the dignity and solemnity of China's imperial past can be discovered here. The architectural complex's central road serves as its central axis and divides five sections on the east and west sides. Generally, it consists of two areas, namely the Outer Court in the south and the Inner Court in the north. The Forbidden City embodies China's relentless pursuit of the ideal urban order and governance for its capital city.

Around the majestic stronghold of the Forbidden City are the old urban areas and the traditions within them, forming a strong contrast. Urban governance in Beijing now places strict demands on both urban renewal and protection of old areas.The "Swift Response to Public Complaints" is an innovative measure to resolve "seven accesses and five expectations", aimed at responding quickly, governing efficiently, and effectively resolving the kinds of issues real people face from day to day.

Caochang Community in Qianmen Sub-district

Caochang Community plays a forefront role in the "Swift Response to Public Complaints". It has established communication channels through a negotiation and discussion mechanism for residents. Specifically, the community holds consultation sessions on a regular basis to address the issues of concern for locals. It has also called for public attention to the living conditions, resolutions to disputes, and cultural and ethical standards, encouraging the residents to participate in the management of the community and fostering a primary-level governance model characterized by "collaboration, participation, and common interests".
