Longfu Temple, located in Dongcheng District of Beijing, is trending again! In early March, this nearly 600-year-old neighborhood was officially designated as a "Beijing Municipal Commercial Pedestrian Street", reclaiming its spot among the city's hottest destinations. During the Spring Festival, it attracted an average of 100,000 visits per day, with its New Year Fair becoming an absolute sensation. What is it that makes this newly popular hot spot so captivating? The Spring Festival Fair was originally scheduled to wrap up on March 15, but has now been made a permanent fixture due to its overwhelming popularity among visitors. In March, a fresh theme was introduced to keep the neighborhood buzzing with life.
The market hosts 58 specialty booths, linking over 100 merchants across the commercial district, more than 30 time-honored brands and over 50 other brands. Crowd favorites include Yili's freshly baked bread, Daoxiangcun's pastries, Yaoji's Chaogan (a stewed liver dish), Yin San Douzhi's Douzhi (a traditional fermented beverage similar to soy milk) and Jiaoquan (fried dough ring), and Hongxing Qianjin's bread, all of which became fast-selling hits.

Beyond the culinary delights, a variety of time-honored brands and intangible cultural heritage stalls enticed the crowds with their fresh and creative offerings. Sheng Xifu showcased exquisitely crafted hats, while Silian Hairdressing introduced innovative products under its own brand. In addition to pearl jewelry from Hongqiao Market, local specialties such as Du Yi Chu's Shaomai (steamed pork dumplings with thin pastry), Tianxingju's stewed liver and steamed buns, allow residents and tourists to enjoy one-stop shopping and take home delightful finds.
With warmer weather approaching, the fair will introduce new themed events to continue offering visitors a diverse and engaging shopping experience. Time-honored flavors that evoke fond memories for Beijingers, including Longfu Temple Snack Bar and Baikui Laohao Restaurant, are set to make a return soon.
