The World Table Tennis (WTT) China Smash 2024 will be held at Shougang Park from September 26 to October 6. As a landmark of urban revitalization and a site of the Winter Olympics legacy, Shougang Park will further bring new momentum to the promotion and development of international table tennis events.
The three venues hosting the WTT Smash events are Shougang Ice Hockey Arena, the Short-Track Speed Skating Arena and the Figure Skating Rink, which are important components of the legacy of the 2022 Winter Olympics. These venues are located in the prime locations in the north area of Shougang Park, served once as coal workshops, Wuyi Theater dormitory area, and other facilities mirroring the park's industrial past.
Shougang Ice Hockey Arena will serve as a cool main venue, named Infinity Arena, featuring a table and a T-shaped stage for the entrance of athletes. It will host the semifinals of men's and women's singles, mixed doubles, as well as finals of five individual events. The Short-Track Speed Skating Arena will serve as the "No. 2" venue with three tables, and many exciting games will be held here. The Figure Skating Rink has been transformed into a training facility with 23 warm-up tables. All three venues are equipped with therapy rooms and fitness areas to meet various functional needs regarding competitions, training, interviews, etc. The venues are adjacent to but independent from each other. Shangri-La Hotel Shougang Park, Beijing and Beijing Shijingshan Lakeview Holiday Inn Express in the park are less than 500 meters away from the venues, taking at most five minutes to reach any of the venues.
For friends who love table tennis, the Smash Park is a must-go to discover WTT's culture. The Smash Park event will be held from September 27 to October 6 at the Halls 11 and 12 of the International Convention and Exhibition Center inside Shougang Park. Four main areas will be set up for outdoor competitions, interactive entertainment, brand exhibitions, and dining, respectively. During non-competition periods, there will also be DJ performances on site. Notably, lucky fans will have the chances to win sponsors' prizes, Beijing Ducks home game tickets, licensed merchandise and more through lucky draw sessions. It is worth mentioning that the Smash Park will hold a "Player Meet and Greet" event from September 29 to October 6, with a different star player appearing at the site each day for signing.
Purchasing official souvenirs has become another important way for fans to engage in sports events. Currently, the first batch of products for sale includes T-shirts, handbags, chocolates, and other items featuring the official logo of WTT China Smash 2024. In addition, various special badges called "Pins", favored by athletes and fans, will also be introduced gradually to fans. Notably, the limited "plantable seed badges" are eco-friendly and plantable.
