Kim Junbum from the Republic of Korea recently embarked on a cultural journey to trace the origins and development of China's capital — right at the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing. Through physical exhibits and digital offerings — including the stories recorded in a Jin Dynasty epitaph and the lively scenes of everyday life depicted in Dream of the Red Chamber — Kim gained a vivid understanding of how the city flourished along the canal and prospered through the canal transport system. Against the backdrop of the Grand Canal and Beijing growing and thriving together, he also experienced firsthand the vitality of the Grand Canal civilization that has endured through the present day.
