The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently published the shortlisted candidates for the 2026 Flagship Smart Factory Cultivation List, which features 34 smart factory projects. Among them, the "AI-Driven Agile Manufacturing Super Smart Factory for High-End New Energy Vehicles" developed by Beijing-based Xiaomi Auto Technology Co., Ltd. marks the first-ever inclusion of a Beijing smart factory project on the list.

Located in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, the Xiaomi Auto Factory covers an area of approximately 718,000 square meters, integrating production, R&D, testing, sales, and customer experience. Tailored to the manufacturing needs of new energy vehicles, the factory features six key workshop processes: stamping, die-casting, body assembly, painting, final assembly, and battery pack assembly, supported by 29 laboratories for vehicle R&D and testing. The site features a 2.5-kilometer dedicated vehicle test track with a design speed of 120 km/h, covering 18 diverse road conditions.

According to Xiaomi Auto, more than 700 robots are deployed across the facility. Critical processes in the body workshop are fully automated, bringing the overall automation rate to 91 percent. The painting workshop is equipped with a rapid color-switching system that changes colors within 40 minutes, accommodating flexible multi-color production demands.

For quality control, the factory implements 100 percent automated, high-precision inline inspection across key processes, supported by a proprietary smart inspection system that detects component installation errors and surface defects. Data from Xiaomi Auto indicates that the system achieves an inspection accuracy rate exceeding 99.9 percent.
