On the evening of February 24, WeRide, an autonomous driving company, announced that its mass-produced "Robotaxi GXR" model has started fully driverless large-scale commercial operations in Beijing. This year, the number of WeRide Robotaxis in Beijing is expected to increase to several hundred.

The GXR model has received official approval to provide "fully driverless" commercial autonomous ride-hailing services in Beijing, covering the core areas of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-Town). Also, passengers can take Robotaxi rides between E-Town and Beijingnan (Beijing South) Railway Station or Daxing International Airport.

This new model features an expanded cabin space, designed in the style of a conventional MPV business vehicle. With the front passenger seat reconfigured as a luggage compartment and the driver's seat exclusively reserved for the operator per safety regulations, the vehicle can accommodate up to five passengers per trip - an optimal configuration for group travel scenarios.

So, how to hail a GXR Robotaxi? Users can search for the WeRide Go App (文远出行) in major mobile App stores, download, register, and request a ride with one tap. The GXR Robotaxi runs from 7:30 to 22:00 on workdays, and from 9:00 to 17:00 on weekends and during public holidays.
