At the recent opening ceremony of the Chinese Congress on Artificial Intelligence (CCAI), Beijing Artificial Intelligence Industry White Paper 2024 was released, revealing that the industrial scale of Beijing's AI core industry is expected to exceed CNY 300 billion in 2024, achieving a year-on-year growth of more than 12 percent. This indicates that the goal of the three-year implementation plan for building an AI innovation hub in Beijing will be achieved one year ahead of schedule.
In 2024, Beijing's AI industry demonstrated extraordinary performance. There are over 2,400 AI enterprises in the city, indicating a year-on-year growth of more than nine percent, among which there are 46 listed companies (with a total market value of about CNY 4.3 trillion) and 36 unicorns (accounting for more than half of the national total of China). The city has a leading social financing scale in China, with about CNY 32 billion raised in the first three quarters this year, an increase of 84 percent year-on-year. A total of 94 large AI models have been registered, making up about 40 percent of the national total.
The CCAI was hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence with support from Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park, and Haidian District People's Government. The conference featured seven keynote speeches, one high-level dialogue and 18 thematic forums focusing on popular topics such as embodied intelligence, edge models, scientific intelligence, world models and spatial intelligence. More than 10 Chinese and foreign academicians in the field of AI, as well as over 100 experts from the relevant industries, universities and colleges, and research institutes were invited to share on-site their ideas and approaches concerning technological research and industrial innovation.
