On April 23, Beijing held a press conference on the status of intellectual property protection in 2023. According to the press conference, as of December 2023, the city had an effective total of 574,000 invention patents, indicating a year-on-year increase by 20.2 percent, with 262.9 invention patents for every 10,000 people, representing a year-on-year increase by 20.43 percent. The city owned 299,000 high-value invention patents, ranking top in the nation with 136.95 high-value invention patents per 10,000 people.

During the selection process for the 24th China Patent Award, Beijing's 152 patents secured numerous awards, with the number of gold and silver awards ranking first nationwide for three consecutive years. One work and two entities in Beijing won the 2022 "WIPO-NCAC Copyright Awards". The Trial Supervision Tribunal of Beijing Intellectual Property Court was honored with the "Award for Copyright Protection" of the WIPO-NCAC Copyright Awards. Beijing came in fourth place globally for its scientific and technology cluster according to the Global Innovation Index 2023 released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The city also received an outstanding rating in the 2022 National Intellectual Property Protection Inspection and Assessment.
