Haidian District is located in the northwest of Beijing, with an area of 430.77 square kilometers. By the end of 2023, there were 3.125 million permanent residents in this district. In 2023, the GDP of Haidian District was CNY 1102.02 billion.

Haidian is a renowned scientific, educational, and cultural district in China. It has 83 colleges and universities represented by Peking University and Tsinghua University, 138 scientific research institutes represented by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 29 national engineering research centers, and 73 national key laboratories.

Zhongguancun gathers important national scientific and technological strategic resources, contains a powerful driving force for technological innovation, and has the largest number of high-tech enterprises for independent innovation.

Haidian District prides itself in containing many places of interest and rich tourism resources, including Xiangshan Mountain, Yuquan Mountain, Wanshou Mountain, Jingyi Garden, Jingming Garden, Summer Palace, Changchun Garden, Yuanmingyuan Park, Wofo Temple, Dajue Temple, and Biyun Temple, etc.
