From the National Centre for the Performing Arts to the Beijing Performing Arts Centre, the 2025 NCPA International Theatre Festival invites audiences to experience a 100-day, cross-border theatrical extravaganza that transcends time and space. From April 12 to July 20, 17 productions with 87 performances from both domestic and international stages will be showcased.

The festival boasts an impressive lineup, featuring stage legends such as Isabelle Huppert, Pu Cunxin, and Shi Yihong, along with outstanding actors like Wu Yue, Zheng Yunlong, and Yu Shaoqun. This promises a diverse array of performances for audiences of all ages. Organized into three thematic sections - "In Beijing, Behold the World", "Chinese Shows, Chinese Sentiments", and "New Space, New Trend" - the festival not only revives classic plays, but also incorporates new elements from film, literature, and immersive experiences.

"In Beijing, Behold the World" focuses on literary and theatrical classics, showcasing both critically acclaimed works that have been tested by both audiences and the industry, as well as new productions from the National Centre for the Performing Arts. "Chinese Shows, Chinese Sentiments" highlights the timeless allure of traditional Chinese opera, including Beijing Opera, Yue Opera, and Beijing Quju Opera. "New Space, New Trend" brings together cutting-edge theatrical works, with a special emphasis on a series of "adaptations from film and television productions".
