Located in the south of the National Stadium (Bird's Nest), the museum is dedicated to preserving Olympic legacies, promoting Olympic culture as well as traditional Chinese culture, whilst carrying forward the spirit of the Olympic Games. It takes up two basement levels of the stadium.
As the main stadium for both the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the National Stadium has witnessed the defining moments of Beijing as a "Dual Olympic City". After the Games, it has also become a major venue for locals to participate in sporting activities and enjoy sports-related entertainment.
