The museum is China's first specialized museum dedicated to stage plays. Located on the fourth floor of the Capital Theatre, it functions as a hub for collection, research, and exhibitions. Through a variety of exhibits, the museum presents an overview of the theatre's history, founders, outstanding productions, domestic as well as international exchanges, and stage art.

The exhibits include photographs, manuscripts by renowned masters, stage design drawings, models of classic stage sets, as well as finely crafted props and costumes.
