The museum is the largest comprehensive museum in Changping District, providing an overview of the region's history as well as its economic and cultural development in the modern era. The permanent exhibitions of the museum include the one featuring the selected cultural relics of the district (excluding those from the Ming Tombs), the one on the history of the district's name (which has been used longer than any other suburban county/district names in Beijing), the one on the cultural relics and historic sites at different protection levels in the district, and the one highlighting the achievements of the district's modern development.
