The Beijing Art Museum was officially established in August 1987 and was fully opened in 1994. The museum now has a collection of nearly 50,000 pieces of ancient art of various types, from primitive society to the Ming and Qing dynasties, mainly including calligraphy and paintings of previous dynasties, porcelain, ancient furniture, etc. The museum has five basic displays, including an exhibition on the history of Wanshou Temple, an exhibition of royal calligraphy and painting art of the Qing Dynasty, and an exhibition of traditional Chinese furniture.
