"Traditional flower arrangement" (listed as intangible cultural heritage at the Haidian district, municipal and national levels) first appeared in the Spring and Autumn period and Warring States period. It has a history of more than 3,000 years. Under the influence of traditional philosophy, literature, painting, gardening, folklore, and other factors, unique styles and characteristics have been formed, such as advocating nature, being rich in poetic and artistic conception, excelling at line modeling, and a wide application of the asymmetrical composition. Traditional flower arrangement embodies distinctive traditional Chinese culture, which has had a profound influence on both Japanese and modern Western flower arrangement.
