Social security cards are mainly used by the holders to see doctors and conduct real-time settlement. If a social security card is lost or damaged, the holder must reapply for it in time, otherwise he/she cannot enjoy corresponding benefits.

The replacement process is very simple.

Option 1. Filing Applications via PC Terminals:

Those who apply for replacement shall log on to the official website of the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. Urban employees (with social insurance being paid by their employers) should choose "individual urban employees" to log in; while urban and rural residents (with social insurance being paid by themselves) should choose "individual resident medical insurance" to log in.

Then, the applicants can access the personal information page to click "Social Security Card Replacement or Card Application" in the module of "Management of Application Services", and fill in relevant information according to the prompts.

The applicants can inquire and save the electronic "Certificate of New Issuance or Replacement (Renewal) of Social Security Card" on the personal information page.

Option 2. Filing Applications via Mobile APPs:

The insured of the social security insurance should log on to the official website of the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, scan the QR code to download the official APP of the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and select the module of "Social Security Card Replacement or Card Application" to file their applications after logging in.

The insured shall follow the WeChat official account of the "Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau", then click the button of "Filing Applications" in the menu of "WeChat Services", and select "Social Security Card Replacement or Card Application" to file applications after logging in.

The applicants can inquire and save the electronic "Certificate of New Issuance or Replacement (Renewal) of Social Security Card" on the personal information page.

Option 3. On-Site Application:

The insured can go to any social security office in Beijing with their original valid identity documents. The applicants shall also submit their social security cards; if the application for replacement is filed by an agent, the original valid identity documents of the agent shall also be submitted. The application can be filed and handled on any working day.

The applicants will be charged CNY 20 for the card replacement, and will receive a replaced social security card after 4 working days since the date of application. The insured can voluntarily choose to receive the new card at a social security office or to receive it by express delivery. The original valid identity documents should be presented when receiving the new card.
