The Beijing Fragrant Hills Red Leaf Festival officially kicked off on October 17. Currently, just 5 percent of the leaves in Fragrant Hills Park have turned red. As the temperatures drop and the gap between temperatures in day and night widens, more and more leaves will take on new looks soon. The best viewing period is expected to arrive after Frost's Descent (which falls on October 23 or 24) and last through to late October.

During the festival, the park will release updates on the rate of leaf color change through its official Weibo and WeChat accounts, along with a "Leaf Viewing Map" where three to five recommended spots will be unveiled each week for the best views of these red leaves and other colorful plants in the park.

Notice:

Visitor numbers are expected to peak on October 18, 19, 25 and 26, and November 1 and 2. Therefore, visitors are advised to plan off-peak visits from Mondays to Thursdays. Tickets can be reserved in advance via the park's official WeChat account or purchased on-site. Annual park passes remain valid during the festival. Those visiting on weekends are suggested to avoid peak hours (between 9:00 and 15:00), stay informed about local traffic control measures, and choose public transportation if possible.
