Renowned choreographer and director Matthew Bourne, known for his subversive work, has put his distinctive personal touch on many classics. From June 20 to 23, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures will bring "Romeo and Juliet" to the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center for the 2024 Second Tianqiao Dance Season.

Matthew Bourne's "Romeo and Juliet", based on the same-name dance drama music by the Russian composer Sergey Prokofiev, is a multifaceted adaptation of Shakespeare's original work. He has created a new story that rejects the family feud but focuses on the conflict between young people and authority.
