The "Qianmen Food Gala: Summer Mint Soda Carnival" (前门美食荟·盛夏薄荷汽水嘉年华) kicked off on July 15 and will run until July 20, open daily from 10:30 to 22:00 at Ruyi Lane and Xinchao Hutong.

Refreshing offerings are available for beating the summer heat.

The event's biggest highlight is a hutong-based market. It features 18 specialty stalls divided into two zones: the "Time-Honored Brand Innovation Zone" (老字号创新区) and the "Nationwide Trendy Summer Light Meal Zone" (全国网红夏日轻食区). Renowned local brands, including Quanjude, Donglaishun, Arctic Ocean, Daoxiangcun, Liubiju and Yinsan Douzhi, have together launched refreshing products exclusive to this market, such as roast duck-flavored ice cream, sesame paste-flavored soda, and slush made from douzhi (a fermented drink like soy milk). These new takes on classic flavors breathe new life into Beijing's culinary culture. At the same time, the market has brought in nationwide favorites such as Hainan's coconut pudding and hand-shaken mint soda, catering to visitors of all ages. All kinds of food and drinks are served in small portions. To enhance visitors' experiences, the Beijing Cuisine Association has representatives on site throughout the event to ensure food safety and fair prices. Visitors can dine and browse with complete peace of mind.

The event kicked off on July 15.

In the face of the midsummer heat, the event features four cooling zones. In Ruyi Lane, a brightly-colored sunshade canopy has been set up, with additional large sunshade facilities in the market and the family area. A traditional Chinese-style canopy inspired by the famous painting "A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains" offers sun protection during the day and a photogenic nighttime ambiance. The negative-ion mist forest campsite at Guanghe Theater releases dry mist for quick cooling, creating a unique backdrop marked by the Tyndall effect—perfect for photography. The Beer Square at Dajiang Hutong provides ample seating for visitors to rest and relax.

The event includes a free family area, complete with several paid games and entertainment options. Themed mascot parades, street flash mobs by performers in costumes, bubble shows, and traditional mini-games are scheduled throughout the day. By participating in these interactive activities, visitors can receive free gifts such as balloons, stickers, and food vouchers, enjoying a one-stop experience that combines family fun, dining, and relaxation.

Multiple perks are being offered for the event. Visitors can, with every purchase, receive discount vouchers equal to the amount they spend, redeemable at all participating venues. Staff workers in costumes are stationed at various check-in spots, where visitors can win no-minimum-spending vouchers and limited-edition drinks by taking part in mini-games.
