The 2026 Beijing Science and Technology Week (the "Week" for short) will soon kick off on May 24 at the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with a full schedule of events to run until May 31.

In recent years, Beijing has made steady progress in developing the Beijing (Beijing‑Tianjin‑Hebei) International Science and Technology Innovation Center. Its R&D investment intensity has remained around 6 percent, ranking among the world's leading innovation cities. The city has secured the third place globally for four consecutive years in the Global Innovation Hubs Index, and has recently topped its counterparts for the first time in the "Research Innovation" category.

This year's Week will highlight major home‑grown innovations in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, healthcare, aerospace and other sectors, offering a clear view of China's path toward sci-tech self‑reliance and the concrete progress it has achieved.

The 2026 Beijing‑Tianjin‑Hebei Science Education Resource Map will also be released during the Week. Focusing on cutting‑edge and future-oriented industries including AI, healthcare, aerospace, new energy, advanced materials, synthetic biology and quantum technology, the map initially features over 60 high‑quality science education venues across the three regions. Presented in a visual format, it clearly shows the locations, featured experiences, reservation information and supporting services available at each venue.

During the Week, more than 20 themed events for field trips will be held, allowing science education bases to organize events at schools while offering students the chances to visit science education bases. A diverse range of programs have been planned, centered on sci-tech education, cultural technology, safety education, and health education, among others.
